Offiong Jairgbe is the Chief Executive of Little Sts Kids, a children’s clothing store that caters to kids between the ages of 0-16 yrs. According to the versatile entrepreneur, “We combine fashion and functionality to give your kids the perfect look.” Jarigbe at the opening of the store in Abuja highlighted the growing need to dress Nigerian children in homegrown outfits and showcase African fashion to the world. “Our vision is to see every child all over the world proudly wearing Ankara piece. So, at Little Sts Kids, we make contemporary styles with Ankara. By dressing our children with Ankara unique pieces, by having outlets showcasing our ready-to-wear line, we can achieve our goal.”

In a chat with LEADERSHIP Weekend, Jairgbe said she has been involved in the fashion industry for over a decade. She explained that during her youth, she contested in beauty pageants, and so understands the value of ‘looking good’ at any age.

The store which specialises in ready-to-wear and custom made pieces, has categories which include  luxury, play wear/ everyday, special occasion and newborn line. “Our styles include the play suits, ball gowns, skirts and tops, shirts, trousers, named onesies etc.”

Conceived in March 2013, Jairgbe’s Little Sts Kids concept has made numerous bespoke pieces for her clients in and outside Nigeria. When asked on why she decided to open a store, and not relying solely on creating bespoke pieces, she expressed, “I have travelled the world over, children’s clothes in western countries are expensive. The current exchange rate does not work in our favour. Here in Nigeria, we do not have enough options for our children.”

Jairgbe said she is spurred on to present affordable African inspired designs that parents can shop for, ‘on the go’ while still taking orders for clients in need of  on-demand designs.

Though Jairgbe has taken the plunge to open an official outlet, she explained that she is undaunted by infrastructure deficits that often plague those in the fashion industry. “I want to have a factory, as there is a lot of demand for what I am offering. I want my stores all over Nigeria, Africa, and the world! When you are passionate about something, you should not be deterred by external factors. Let your drive move you,” she stated. Jairgbe’s Little Sts Kids has kicked off with a fully stocked store located in the heart of Abuja metropolis, and is supported by e-commerce platforms to meet her global goals.
