Kano Pillars have congratulated Rivers United after they gained their first ever Caf Champions League qualification.
Communicating via their spokesman, Idris Malikawa, Sai Masu Gida acknowledged the shock waves the Port Harcourt based club sent across the league as they finished second behind champions Enugu Rangers, thus grabbing one of the two continental spot.
The four-time champions in their congratulatory message left an advice for Stanley Eguma’s team emphasizing the need for early preparation if they are to achieve success in Africa’s premier club competition next season.
“On behalf of Kano Pillars, I want to say a big congratulations to Rivers United FC for their impressive run in the just-concluded Nigeria Professional Football League,” the statement read.
“Their ability to secure a Caf Champions League ticket against the odds shows that they are a club with serious-minded footballers and officials.
“Kano Pillars Football Club wishes Rivers United all the best as she embarks on her first journey in the Caf Champions League.
“To succeed in that competition requires a lot of resourcefulness and early preparation because they will be facing highly-professional sides who are the best in their respective countries.”
