Ken Saro-Wiwa Jr, the son of the late Ogoni activist and one of the Ogoni nine who were hanged by the Abacha regime over Niger Delta Crisis, Ken Saro-Wiwa, is dead.
According to reports, the late Saro-Wiwa Jr died yesterday in Abuja, after a brief illness.
He was 47 years old.
Saro-Wiwa Jr, who was a one-time special adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan, was born in 1968.
He was an international journalist and an author of high repute.
A former president of the Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People, Mr Ledum Mitee, expressed shock over the sudden demise of Saro-Wiwa, whom had literally assumed the position of his late father.
“Somebody just called me to tell me that he is dead, but I am still in shock and have not been able to confirm it,” reports quoted Mitee as saying.
