Disturbed by the deplorable state of federal roads in Niger state, the state governor, Abubakar Sani Bello has appealed to the federal government for immediate intervention and rehabilitation of all federal roads in the state.
A statement by Bello’s Chief Press Secretary, Jibrin Ndace stated that the governor has described all federal roads as deplorable, hence he was calling on the federal government’s intervention to reduce the hardship faced by motorists and other road users in the state.
The statement added that the governor spoke shortly after inspecting the failed sections of Minna/Suleja road, adding that all federal roads in the state are in bad shape and require prompt attention.
According to the governor “The fact is, it is not Nigerlites alone that suffer the bad state of all these federal roads but all other commuters who travel from north to south and from south to north. We are however the worst hit, the development has started to affect the people and the state economy.
“We are appealing to federal government to quickly intervene in rehabilitating these roads, as the state maintained roads are now been over stretched and damaged by the heavy duty trucks, being the only (state roads) available to motorists” .
Bello after the inspection of Minna/Suleja road directed the state’s ministry of Works to come up with a comprehensive rehabilitation package for some of the Federal roads in the state as a palliative measure to bring relief to the people.
