There is no appropriate time than now to roll out drums and remind ourselves that we made the right choice in voting Governor Masari as his administration is geared towards the revitalisation of essential sectors in the Restoration Agenda.

On assumption of office, Governor Masari (Dallatun Katsina) met an educational system that has nearly collapsed. Out of the four hundred and thirty seven (437) schools inherited,  three hundred and twenty eight (328) Schools were in such a very bad shape, with dilapidated and crumbling structures, no furniture and basic teaching materials, the morale of the teachers was low and  hopeless. Parents/ guardians were highly apathetic to the education development of their children and wards.

As the first step forward to salvage this important sector, the administration embarked on massive rehabilitation of schools infrastructure and massive procurement of furniture and  instructional materials.

It is gratifying to note that, in barely one and half year, education  in Katsina state which suffered years of neglect by the immediate past administration, is beginning to receive the desired attention, it is gladdening to note that efforts in revitalising the sector have started yielding fruitful result, about eleven (11) Science Secondary Schools were completely rehabilitated and furnished, Five (5) are currently in progress of undergoing total overhaul of general rehabilitation.

Among schools earmarked for rehabilitation are the popular Katsina College Katsina, Government Technical Mashi, Government Day Science Dutsinma, GSS Funtua and Day Secondary School Ellaraba in Malumfashi.

Good enough, the state government established two new additional Government Day Secondary Schools were awarded in Faskari and Kaita to service areas that have been without secondary school for long.

All these point to the unwavering resolve and commitment of the Dallatu’s administration to the development of this important sector.

While the education sector is aggressively being revamped, the road construction sector, especially rural road construction is being handled with utmost seriousness.

It is important to note that, since the inception of Dallatu’s administration in Katsina State, the State Government has been pursuing with great vigour the policy objective of improving Rural and Urban infrastructural facilities.

Within the short period, the administration has awarded the contract of three major roads, one in each of the three Senatorial zones. The Fago-Makauraci-Kwasarawa-Koza in Daura Senatorial Zone, Dutsinma-Tsaskiya-Baban Duhu in Katsina Senatorial Zone and Gora-Makauraci Mallamawa-Gamzako in Funtua Senatorial Zone.

With these laudable projects, the Dallatu’s administration is determined to improve the livelihood of the State Populace as this will enhance socio-economic activities and free movement of people and goods to and from different corners of the state especially the rural areas.

One equally important sector which is being revamped is agriculture. Undoubtedly, the Governor Masari administration has taken steps forward at boosting agricultural production in the State with a view to ensuring adequate food production and supply and eradication of hunger and poverty among our people.

To ensure effective realisation of the noble objective of ensuring food sufficiency, the State Government has redoubled efforts in procurement and distribution of fertilisers with more fertilisers already in stock for distribution to dry season farmers under the irrigation scheme.

Other agro inputs like chemicals for pest control, drugs and forestry equipment were procured to assist in boosting agricultural production.

It is also important to note, the Dallatu’s administration has ordered for the supply of Tractors, of which sizable consignment have started arriving in the State.

In the health sector, Dallatu’s administration has made concerted efforts to bring affordable and accessible health care services to all citizens of the state. While plans are at advanced stage for the recruitment of more health personnel, work on the remodelling, and upgrading of general hospitals is  ongoing at Katsina, Daura, and Funtua.

Work is also set to commence on Kankia General Hospital which is set for total rehabilitation, expansion and upgrading of facilities.Considering the importance of the sector, the administration will continue to provide equipment and machinery to hospitals so as to ensure efficient health care delivery. Maternal and Child health care will continue to be accorded priority attention. Human resources development as well as management information services will be given all the deserved attention.

It is often said that water is life. In appreciation of the strategic importance of water for both industrial and domestic use, the Dallatu’s administration has placed greater emphasis in the provision of portable water supply.

Since administration came on board, and considering the central role clean portable plays in the prevention of water borne diseases as well as in the overall development process, the administration had remained poised to upgrade the abandoned Ajiwa water supply scheme even as it has consistently matched words with action in the provision of water treatment chemicals, purchase of generators as well as the expansion of metropolitan water scheme so as to improve existing distribution network in order to cope with increasing demand.

In the administration’s humble effort to intensify the restoration agenda in the area of water supply, plans are being made for the provision of six hundred and twenty (620) hand-pump boreholes throughout the State, and additional solar powered borehole in each of the thirty four (34) Local Government Areas will be made.

In conclusion, when Dallatu’s administration took the mantle of leadership of the State, the financial situation he met on the ground was very scary. Alhamdulillah! With prudence management and more importantly your prayers, the situation has tremendously improved, he is doing what is humanly possible to ensure accountability and prudence in the management of fund entrusted in his care. We thank Allah and pray that HE will guide Governor Masari and his team  to  further their commitments in the years ahead.
