As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility program, Fidelity Bank in partnership with Gazelle Academy Vocational Center has organized a free 5 -day skill acquisition training on digital media and entrepreneurship for undergraduates of Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi.
The representative of the Managing Director of the bank , Abdul Rahman Ibrahim told newsmen shortly after the opening ceremony that the program was essentially to promote small and medium enterprises (SME) , to ensure self reliance by promoting students from tertiary institutions to begin to become self reliant in different aspects of entrepreneurship.
He explained that students will receive training in various stages by the consultants throughout the duration of the exercise which according to him was the first program of this nature to be organised by the bank in the North and the second in the country .
Abdul Rahman also said that depending on area the trainees received training, the bank will determine what assistance to offer them at end of the program to start off “ Well depending on which area they specialise on, we will now sit and thing of what to offer them, its giving back to the society where we work “.
The Commissioner of Higher Education, Alhaji Maigari Abdullahi who represented the State Governor at the event , commended the organisers for the event while restating the commitment of State Government in promoting vocational education in the state.
