Ondo Guber: ‘Dead Does Not Threaten The Living’, Akeredolu Mocks Oke

…. As APC Inaugurates Campaign Committee

Ahead of  the Ondo elections that had hitherto generated fireworks in the polity, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming November governorship election, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) has taunted the candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD),Olushola Oke, who defected to pick the ticket as a case of the “dead does not threaten the living.”

This, he said at the while addressing the press after  national leadership of APC inaugurated the national campaign team for the forthcoming Ondo election.

Akeredolu, when asked to react to Olushola Oke’s defection to Action Alliance (AD), said: “Olushola Oke is not a threat to us. I mean if he choses to contest under a dead party that is choice, there nothing anybody can do about that but that is a threat is not possible. The dead does not threaten the living. We are a life party, APC we don’t fear any threat we know that the contest probably might be between us and the PDP.

“So we are sure footed in this election. So what we are saying is that our members who are aggrieved we have worked through tirelessly  to make sure all of us would work together as one if you talk about somebody like Senator Boroffice he was one of those who file petition as I am talking to you is with us.

“So we are gaining ground, visually all our members have come back. Yes there might be a few people you can give money to here and there, but those are not the leadership of the party the full leadership of the party, remains in he APC and all of us are now working together, but if there are few people only those who down to join and decide to run out today.

While acknowledging that the election will not be a work over, the national chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun said ” I call it challenging because of the special circumstances hag has brought us to this point today. Otherwise, Ondo state is ripe for the taking and added to the APC progressive family. The challenge I am passing on to you today is the obvious challenge that arose at the primary. But I trust that you and your team will overcome those difficulties and deliver Ondo tongue APC family.

“In Edo state, if was difficult and jot a walk over. If was a tough election and a difficult election. This also will not be a walk over. It will be a tough and difficult election, but we will win

“I want to say that part of your responsibility is to have a crack team immediately to help you restore ninth at the grass root. At the higher level, we are already doing things to bring the contending interest together and restore Ondo state to the progressive family. We want the people of Ondo state to know than the day of redemption has come and by the grade of God, we shall triumph.”

The campaign committee has nine governors and nine Ministers as well as members of the National Assembly, former governor as well as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yusuf Lasun.

The governors in the committee include Senator Abiola Ajimobi, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Senator Ibikunle Amosun. Akinwunmi Ambode, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Barrister M.A. AbubakarAtiku Bagudu and Aminu Waziri Tambuwal with ministers including Prof. Claudius Daramola, Pastor Usani U Usani, Kayode Fayemi, Babatunde Raji Fashola, Barrister Adebayo Shittu, Mrs Folakemi Adeosun, Prof. Isaac Adewole, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Senator Chris Ngige.
