A group known as Tiv Cultural and Social Association in Taraba State has urged Governor Darius Ishaku to rehabilitate and properly reintegrate internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the state.
Briefing newsmen yesterday in Jalingo, the president general of the association, Mr. Goodman Dahidi lamented that the living conditions of IDPs in the state at the moment was still very pitiable.
He noted the recent publication in a national daily, (not LEADERSHIP) with headline; “Tiv petition Governor Ishaku and the Speaker of the House of Assembly over change of name in two Tiv communities” was purely handiwork of some desperate politicians who want to drag the Tiv into politics of hatred, blackmail and mischief ahead of 2019 general elections.
“We reliably gathered that some top members of the opposition, All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state have cashed in on the purported change of the name Dan-Anacha to Kwararafa and are sponsoring the petitioners to cause disaffection. Apart from the petition and the press conference they have addressed, we have also gathered their sponsors have perfected plans to hire lawyers to sue the governor and the state government over the said change of name,” he said.
