The Senate is currently divided over the actual interpretation of oil-producing area as captured in the Niger Delta Development Commission Act.
The divergent views are arising from a debate to confirm the nominees of President Muhammadu Buhari as members of the Board of NDDC.
The debate is particularly on who is actually fit to be a member of the Board and who is not based on belonging to oil producing area or state of the federation.
Senate has consequently dissolved into the Committee of the Whole to consider the report of the Committee on NDDC on the confirmation of the nominees.
