Wike Urges Muslims To Pray For Nigeria’s Peace, Development

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has called on the Muslim faithful  to  pray for  the  peace and development  of  Nigeria.

He also called on them to promote the ideals of religious harmony and tolerance as they relate with the adherents of other religions in the country.

The governor  spoke on Friday during a Special Jumat Prayer to mark the 56th Independence  Anniversary  of the nation at the Nigerian Air Force Central Mosque in Port Harcourt.

Represented by Alhaji Mohammed Okiri,  his Special Adviser on Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Governor Wike  said  the country will attain more development  in a religiously  harmonious  environment.

The governor  said  that  he has taken deliberate steps to promote  religious tolerance and friendship  amongst the two major religions in the state for the sake of development.

He assured the Muslim faithful  in the state that he will always create the right environment  for them to worship Allah in the state.

“It is incumbent on Muslims  to pray for peace and development  for the country. We are working  tirelessly  to ensure peace and  security  for all residents  of  Nigeria “, Governor Wike said.

Also speaking, Representative of the Nigerian Air Force Commander of Special Operation, Wing Commander Umar Ibrahim, said all Nigerians should use the Independence anniversary to advance the cause of  unity.

He also appealed to Nigerians  to always pray for the nation.
