A pressure group, Edo Youth Coalition, has asked the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its supporters to accept the outcome of the governorship election and find a common ground for peace.
It challenged Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to emulate the virtues of the immediate past president of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Jonathan who conceded defeat before the official declaration of Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of 2015 presidential poll by INEC.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had on Wednesday last week declared Godwin Obaseki, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the poll after securing the highest valid votes cast in the poll ahead of his closest rival, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
Spokesman of the group, Comrade Toju Igbene, disclosed this yesterday during a solidarity rally by members of the group to the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council.
“Let us develop the spirit of sportsmanship, that is why we keep respecting Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. Haven lost an election, he was the first to put a call to Buhari to congratulate him. Let us develop that spirit. Let us develop that culture,” he said.
