A Liberia-based Nigerian, Mr Olufemi Ijinmakinde has called on Liberians at home and abroad to support the candidacy of Dr Joseph Mills for President of Liberia in the forthcoming general election in October 2017.
Olufemi in an interview with journalists in Abuja, said the call became necessary considering the track record of Dr Mills when he served as the country’s Central Bank Governor for two terms of five years each.
He said as governor of the Central Bank, Dr Mills led an aggressive reform in the country’s financial system, adding “Mills is known for given above 100 per cent.
“He was the best graduating pupil from his primary school at St. Joseph Catholic School in Sinoe County. He was also the best graduating student from Bishop Ferguson High School where he had his higher diploma.
“While his generation thought they have seen all his academic exploits, he went ahead to bag a Degree in Economics from the prestigious Cuttington College, now Cuttington University (Magna Cum Laude), completing the normal four years course in three years!
“With such sterling academic prowess, he went to the United States for his Masters and Doctorate degree at the renowned American University, Washington D.C. As a young man with such promising academic credentials, and with a humble background, he was making plans to get a job with an international organization; as it was the dream of anyone in his shoes as at that time ( even until now). But it was at that point in his life that he got the ‘SOS’ message from home, his people wanted him back. The message was clear, the command was simple: “Come over to Liberia and help us.”
