The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger State has said that it has apprehended a suspected fake army general in Minna.
The state commandant, Philip Ayuba, made the disclosure when he paraded the suspect before newsmen in Minna.
He said, “This suspect who have been parading himself as an army general specialises in defrauding unemployed applicants by promising them job in either the military or paramilitary outfits in the country.”
He said the suspect, Mohammed Usman, alias General Ishiaku, is 41 years old and from Katcha local government area of the state. Ayuba explained that the suspect was arrested by an undercover team of NSCDC in Minna metropolis after he had concluded plans to collect a balance of N450,000 bargained for a job in the NSCDC.
He, however, revealed that a suspected accomplice of the suspect, Abubakar Ibrahim, is at large, but added that his men and officers will stop at nothing to track, arrest and bring him to book.According to hm, the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigations are complete.
The suspect blamed his action on the economic hardship and pleaded for forgiveness.
“I will not do it again, it was the handiwork of the devil,” he said.
