Day Of The Elderly: FG Urged To Look Into Plight Of Aged

The founder of Amazing Grace Foundation of elderly people, Dr (Mrs) Ifeyinwa Obegolu, has called on the Federal Government to come to the aid of elderly people. She stated this while speaking with journalists at the International Elderly People’s Day held in Kado, Abuja, yesterday.

“Let the Government  assist elderly people, not only the nations in Africa but the world at large. Government should make adequate provisions for them because these people have worked for several years but cannot collect their pensions. So government should help them to collect their pensions.”

Obegolu also urged the government to help NGOS  take care of these elderly people saying that  everybody should key into the programme. She added that 1,860 elderly people are being taken care of by the Amazing Grace Foundation Old Peoples Home, adding that more elderly people would be also cued.

Speaking with Leadersip Sunday, Mrs Christiana Onah, one of the elderly women stated enormous things that the foundation has done into for them.

Another benefactor, Lawal Usman also reveals how Amazing Grace Foundation has helped in the protection of the rights of widows and victims of family violence. He called on the Government and well-meaning individuals to key into the program.
